The watch in question is my MP3 Watch, which recently stopped ticking. Time for a battery change!

First I remove the strap, in order to gain access to the screwdown caseback;

And this must be the most pointless use of a screwdown caseback ever. I mean, this watch has a great gaping hole in the LH side which leads straight to the inner workings, in the form of the 2.5mm data port. Yeah, there's a pop-out rubber plug, but other'n that there's no water protection at all. Are you Crazy?!

Once the back's off, I'm presented with this;

OK, there's the rechargeable sub-mini lithium battery pack which powers the MP3 player. But where's the watch battery? I am confused! Obviously I'll have to dig a little deeper...

The battery pack is attached directly to the flash memory chip via re-stickable sticky stuff...

..and once that's off..

..I can access the teeny Phillips-head screws at 12 and 6, which hold the MP3 player module in place.

Finally I find the battery of the watch movement itself!

From that point on it was a piece o' cake. Reassembly was, as they say, the reverse of removal, and a quick check of all the functions tells me.. Is Happy Day! Is Happy Day! Is Happy Day! Everything works!

All-in-all not that tough a job, really.. though I've got a sneaking suspicion that the average Watch Battery Change Specialist at the local mall kiosk would have a nervous breakdown if they were presented with this one. Laughing out loud! Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off! Laughing out loud!
